Healthcare Foundation of Wilson Awards 17 Grants Totaling Nearly $1.1 Million

WILSON, N.C. (July 31, 2018) – Healthcare Foundation of Wilson is investing an additional $1.1 million in community projects that focus on solutions to some of Wilson’s greatest health challenges. Seventeen approved grants were announced today during a luncheon at Barton College.

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson prioritizes grant funding for projects that focus on sustainable solutions with measurable outcomes to address four of the community’s greatest health concerns, including adolescent pregnancy, alcohol and substance abuse, obesity and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The following 2018 grant recipients have received funding for projects that will address one or more of the four areas of health concern:

  • Barton College – $426,000
  • Boy Scouts of America, East Carolina Council – $25,375
  • Love A Sea Turtle – $10,000
  • Mental Health of America of Eastern Carolina – $35,000
  • Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Wilson – $9,897
  • Imagination Station- $25,000
  • The SPOT – $30,000
  • Wilson County 4-H – $5,000
  • Wilson County Department of Social Services – $150,000
  • Wilson County Health Department – $5,000
  • Wilson County Health Department – $30,000
  • Wilson County Health Department – $175,000
  • Wilson County Partnership for Children – $75,000
  • Wilson County Schools – $7,500
  • Wilson County Schools – $44,000
  • Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition – $7,500
  • Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition – $25,000
