Healthcare Foundation of Wilson Awards 19 Grants Totaling $1.3 Million

WILSON, N.C. (Aug. 17, 2016) – Healthcare Foundation of Wilson is investing $1.3 million in community projects that focus on solutions to some of Wilson’s greatest health challenges. Nineteen approved grants were announced August 16 during a luncheon at Wilson Community College.

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson prioritizes grant funding for projects that focus on sustainable solutions with measurable outcomes to address four of the community’s greatest health concerns, including adolescent pregnancy, alcohol and substance abuse, obesity and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The following 2016 grant recipients have received funding for projects that will address one or more of the four areas of health concern:

Barton College – $125,000

Hope Station – $30,000

Imagination Station – $246,000

Integrity Unlimited Community Development Corp. – $10,000

Open Door Community Outreach Center, Inc. – $1,200

Saint James Christian Church, Inc. – $15,000

Seeds of Hope Wilson – $5,900

SPOT (Sharing Positive Outcomes Together) – $60,000

Wilson 20/20 Community Vision – $200,000

Wilson Community Improvement Association, Inc. – $20,000

Wilson County Health Department – $220,000

Wilson County Schools (two separate grant projects) $48,000 and $25,000

Wilson County Department of Social Services – $150,000

Wilson County Substance Abuse Coalition – $45,000

Wilson Family YMCA – $20,000

Wilson Family YMCA and Save-A-Youth (SAY) – $46,000

Wilson Parks & Recreation – $10,000

Wilson Preparatory Academy – $50,000
