Healthcare Foundation of Wilson Awards 23 Grants Totaling $1.6 Million

WILSON, N.C. (Aug. 17, 2017) – Healthcare Foundation of Wilson is investing an additional $1.6 million in community projects that focus on solutions to some of Wilson’s greatest health challenges. Twenty-three approved grants were announced today during a luncheon at Barton College.

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson prioritizes grant funding for projects that focus on sustainable solutions with measurable outcomes to address four of the community’s greatest health concerns, including adolescent pregnancy, alcohol and substance abuse, obesity and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The following 2017 grant recipients have received funding for projects that will address one or more of the four areas of health concern:

  • Barton College – $132,000
  • Barton College – $185,000
  • Community Christian School – $5,000
  • Greenfield School – $28,000
  • Hope Station – $45,000
  • Integrity Unlimited Community Development Corporation – $50,000
  • Love A Sea Turtle – $7,000
  • Mental Health America of Eastern Carolina – $30,000
  • Seeds of Hope Wilson – $16,000
  • The SPOT – $50,000
  • United Way of Wilson County, Inc. – $150,000
  • Wilson County Department of Social Services – $150,000
  • Wilson County Health Department – $5,000
  • Wilson County Health Department – $10,000
  • Wilson County Health Department – $316,000
  • Wilson County Partnership for Children – $135,691
  • Wilson County Schools – $7,500
  • Wilson County Schools – $40,000
  • Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition – $7,200
  • Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition – $157,200
  • Wilson Family YMCA – $25,000
  • Wilson Family YMCA – $40,000
  • Wilson Parks and Recreation – $12,000

Since 2016, Healthcare Foundation of Wilson has invested more than $3 million in grants and additional health-related funding.
