Healthcare Foundation of Wilson Partners with Ripe for Revival to Launch Mobile Food Market
WILSON, N.C. (March 16, 2026) – The Healthcare Foundation of Wilson has announced a new partnership with Ripe for Revival to bring a Mobile Food Market to the Wilson community, increasing access to fresh, nutritious food at an affordable price.
Beginning April 14, the Mobile Food Market will be set up at the Wilson County Department of Social Services every second and fourth Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market will operate under a pay-it-forward/pay-what-you-can model, ensuring that everyone in the community has access to healthy food options regardless of income. Each market is expected to provide food options for up to 50 families.
To celebrate the launch on April 14, the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson will host a Community Resource Fair alongside the Mobile Market. Local organizations and community partners will be present to share information about services and programs available to Wilson County residents. Participants who visit a partner table will receive a $10 voucher to shop at the Mobile Food Market that day.
The Healthcare Foundation of Wilson is excited to expand access to healthy food in the community through this partnership. “No one should face barriers when it comes to obtaining healthy food,” said Paula Benson, HFW President/CEO. “By bringing the Ripe for Revival Mobile Food Market to Wilson, we’re creating a reliable, low-cost option for fresh, nutritious foods so individuals and families can make healthier choices without the burden of high prices—making wellness both accessible and affordable for our community.”
Ripe for Revival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending food insecurity by connecting communities with fresh, affordable produce through initiatives like the Mobile Food Market. This partnership reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to improving community health and expanding access to resources that support better health for all residents across Wilson County.
About the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson
The Healthcare Foundation of Wilson is a public foundation that was established in February 2014 when Wilson Medical Center was purchased by Duke LifePoint Healthcare. The assets received from the sale, as well as prior hospital reserves, provide the funding for the grants awarded and many of the physical improvements to the hospital. The Foundation’s mission is to invest in collaborative efforts that influence and measurably improve the health and wellness of the greater Wilson community. Since the first grants were issued in 2016, over $70 million dollars have been expended. The Foundation remains committed to creating a healthier Wilson community and looks forward to more collaborative partnerships in the future.
