HFW Healthcare Career Scholarship Program – College

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (HFW) established the Healthcare Career Scholarship Program to expand access to education and training for individuals pursuing careers in healthcare, to strengthen the local healthcare workforce, and improve community health outcomes by investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals in Wilson County. Recipients of the scholarship must be college students who have been accepted into a healthcare related program at either Barton College or Wilson Community College. Each school will have the ability to award two $2,500 scholarships to students enrolled in a healthcare related program of study.

How to Apply

Recipients of the scholarship will be selected by a committee at each school provided they meet all eligibility criteria. For more information, students should speak with each school’s designee for information about applying, requirements, and deadlines.

The application created by the Foundation must be submitted by each school’s designee on behalf of the selected student. An email with a PDF copy of the application should be submitted to jthomas@hfwilson.org. No individual applications will be accepted by the Foundation from students.

Schools are welcome to use the HFW application to screen students at the school level.

Each college will set the application timeline during the Fall semester of each year. Check this page after August 1st each year for updated timeline information.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible recipients must meet the following criteria:

Current student who has been accepted into a health-related program and has at least one year left to complete at either Barton College or Wilson Community College.
A full-time student.
Demonstrated scholastic achievement with a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Exhibited leadership, positive character, and community involvement.
Is not an immediate family member of a board member or staff member of the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (i.e. child, sibling, grandchild).
