Healthcare Foundation of Wilson Awards $72,000 in Flexible Funding

WILSON, N.C. (December 29, 2025) – Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (HFW) launched a new funding opportunity this year—CAREs Flexible Funding—designed to strengthen nonprofit organizations serving Wilson residents. The grant program provides general operating support to nonprofits delivering programs aligned with at least one of HFW’s health-related focus areas, allowing organizations greater flexibility to address essential operational needs.

The initiative was named CAREs Flexible Funding to reflect the Board of Directors’ commitment to supporting nonprofit partners that embody CARE—Compassion, Assistance, Responsiveness, and Engagement—in their work. By offering this flexible funding, HFW aims to empower organizations to sustain and expand the impactful services they provide to the community. Eligible organizations were able to request up to $5,000 in general operating support. The HFW Board of Directors approved eighteen new grants for this funding cycle.

The organizations awarded were:

Choices Women’s Center – $3,500

Flynn Christian Fellowship Home – $5,000

Integrity Unlimited Community Development Corporation – $5,000

Moms on a Mission – $1,500

CAREs Flexible Funding, along with additional funding opportunities, will be offered in 2026. The Foundation remains optimistic that this flexible financial support will help nonprofit organizations address critical needs and fill gaps where other funding sources may be limited or unavailable. “Flexible funding allows organizations to respond to real-time challenges and sustain the essential work they do every day,” said Krystal Cox, Vice President of Community Impact. “By continuing these grant opportunities, we are investing in the stability and long-term impact of our nonprofit partners and the health of our community.”

About the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson

The Healthcare Foundation of Wilson is a public foundation that was established in February 2014 when Wilson Medical Center was purchased by Duke LifePoint Healthcare. The assets received from the sale, as well as prior hospital reserves, provide the funding for the grants awarded and many of the physical improvements to the hospital. The Foundation’s mission is to invest in collaborative efforts that influence and measurably improve the health and wellness of the greater Wilson community. Since the first grants were issued in 2016, over $70 million dollars have been expended. The Foundation remains committed to creating a healthier Wilson community and looks forward to more collaborative partnerships in the future.
